Mary Keehn, in search of healthy milk for her children, asked her neighbor if she could buy two of their goats. The neighbor told her that if she could catch them, she could have them, leading to Mary spending days trying to lure goats with hay until she finally lured her first two, who she named Esmeralda and Hazel. Hey goats grew in number as she began trying her hand at making cheese. Once Cypress Grove was officially founded in 1983, Mary to Franch to taste, tested, and learn from the masters and makers of brie, camembert, morbier, and more. Cypress Grove has continued growing since, and in 2010 the company built its own dairy and designed it to be an easily accessible source of knowledge for the growing American goat dairy industry.
