From Italy
Calvi Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Unfiltered Mosto Classico is sweet, with a subtle fruity flavor and fresh scent. Calvi's extra virgin olive oil is made from a collection of quality Italian olives and bottled as it comes from the mill, after being naturally decanted. Great when used as dressing for salads, vegetables, and other delicate dishes. Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Unfiltered Mosto Classico's elegant green foil wrapping protects the oil from light to better preserve its organoleptic properties.Producer Spotlight
Calvi had its humble beginnings in 1921, when Giuseppe Calvi, a WWI veteran, and his brother Paolo Calvi established “Fretelli Calvi.” The small business began with Giuseppe Calvi bottling his olive oil in demijohns and flasks that were sold to neighboring regions, and eventually the oil was packaged in cans and exported to South America and the United States for Italian immigrants who were missing a special taste of home. Giovanni, also known as Gianni, and Anna Bianca, Giusuppe’s two children, took over the company during the 1950’s, growing the business with a hyper focus on dependably producing quality products. Gianne and Anna Bianca are also responsible for developing ‘Mosto Oro,’ a monocultivar that has become the company’s staple, a symbol of its quality and heritage. The last decade has seen the rise of a new generation of Calvis, ready to continue developing and growing the company while staying true to its roots.
