Ecoteas was founded by lifelong friends Stefan Schachter, Brendan Girard, and Joseph Chermesino in Ashland Oregon in the year 2000. After a year of working out of the living room of a house, growing a small but enthusiastic local following, their organic yerba mate supplier went out of business. After Stefan traveled all over Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina in search of a supplier, he visited a natural food store in Buenos Aires and bought a bag of organic yerba mate. After calling the number on the back of the bag, he met Johnny and tried the yerba mate available through his organic farm. With a rich flavor and strong potency, Johnny's yerba mate was perfect, and continues to be the cornerstone of the teas available through Ecoteas.
