The Kid said.. "Helping others feels good"

I’ll never forget what Andrew’s son said to me. Andrew is the GM of Dough Pizzeria on Blanco, one of our great wholesale customers and a top-notch guy. In fact, everyone at Dough are wonderful people. So much so, we partnered with Dough during one of our Love Drop Offs, where we passed out hundreds of food kits to those in need. Andrew’s teenage son volunteered to help. As we were passing food kits out, the kid said something to me that I will never forget:

“I’ve never had a chance to do this. I have to say, it feels really good to help people”.

Yes, it does, it feels good to put others before us. It fills our hearts in a way few other acts can. And we must be fearless in this endeavor, but we must also be cautious and safe.

Why fearless? To me, fear can be deadlier than any virus. Fear can turn us into something that we as humans are not meant to be. Fear can shrivel your heart and cloud your mind. Fear can make us think only of ourselves and forget that we are all part of a larger family. Whether we like it or not, we are part of one family, of a community that is dependent on every member. We all depend on people we don’t even know. And they depend on us.

Don’t get me wrong, I have serious concerns. My family, my employees, my business. But concern and fear are different. We can be seriously concerned and still think rationally so that while we act to take care of those closest to us, we still remain open to contributing positively to the bigger picture, the bigger purpose. If we can balance safety and service, I am fully confident that we will come out of this even stronger than we imagined.

From our standpoint, we remain fully committed to helping and serving you and our community before ourselves.

  • 1. We are the safest place to buy your groceries.

Our warehouse is closed to retail customers. Meaning no one touches your groceries except for the guy in full suit that picks them. We also added a full fleet of refrigerated vans to make sure your food gets to you at optimum temperature (not melted or compromised by the heat) And we hired our own staff to handle your order with care from start to finish, so we can ensure our safety protocols are followed every step of the way.

  • 2. Love Drop Off:

We are delivering hundreds of food kits to those in need on a weekly basis. When you shop with us you’re helping put food on their tables.

  • 3. We need help.

We’re trying. Hard. All we need is a chance to prove it. Please know that putting in a good word for us with your friends, neighbors or social media contacts means the world to us right now. It means survival.
